Andres Garcia, a St. Cloud State University soccer player, returned from multiple injuries to complete his senior season with his teammates.

Garcia suffered a hamstring injury, a torn ACL and meniscus, and a patella fracture. Despite those setbacks, he returned and contributed to his final season.

“It felt good being able to score in my first few games back,” Garcia said. He made an immediate impact after years away from consistent competition.

Garcia originally broke out as a freshman, earning all-conference honors, earning the coach’s early trust, and quickly building momentum. Injuries soon changed that path and forced him to miss a significant time.

“You don’t realize how much you miss it until it’s gone,” Garcia said.

The time away gave him a new appreciation for the game. Support from teammates, family, and his younger brother helped him stay motivated through his tough journey back to the pitch.

The experience also changed his perspective on identity beyond sports, now focusing on enjoying the game rather than pressure.
