Members of the Acacia Fraternity at St. Cloud State University are preparing to celebrate the chapter’s 50 anniversary this upcoming spring, marking five decades of brotherhood and service.
Founded in 1977, the chapter has focused on leadership, scholarship, and community involvement throughout its history.
The milestone anniversary is expected to bring together current members and alumni to reflect on the organization’s legacy and impact on campus and the St. Cloud community.
“I been a member here going on three years and I see this place at its high and lows and now with our 50-anniversary coming up we haven’t been doing nothing but striving.” says Andrew Stoothoff the current executive dean, here at Acacia.
A goal for the brothers here at Acacia fraternity is to get to an overall total of 500 members. With recruitment around the corner the brothers say their focus is to get the Acacia name out around campus as much as possible to make that goal happen.
Acacia, a national fraternity founded in 1904, emphasizes its motto of “Human Service,” with members regularly participating in volunteer work and philanthropy efforts. The brothers just finished participating in the Saint Cloud Earth Day run event and were able to raise money for their chapter while still being a shoulder to lean on for the community. Chapter leaders say the anniversary will highlight both past achievements and future goals as the fraternity continues to promote personal development and community engagement.
“I would definitely say me and my brothers are a younger chapter and me being new to my position I am excited to put in my all and not only show my brothers and alumni how much we can accomplish but the community as well.” said Tyler Fosso the current president here at Acacia.
As Acacia approaches its 50th anniversary, members say the celebration will serve as both a reflection of their legacy and a steppingstone toward continued growth and community impact.
