On September 8th, Huskies Events held their first monthly bingo within Atwood Memorial Center Ballroom! Unlike Grocery Bingo, the event last year that kicked off bingo, there did not seem to be a major overarching theme, rather focusing on goods that your average college student would appreciate. All a student had to do to attend this free event was swipe their ID card.
As is standard at monthly Atwood bingo, a small meal was provided for free, this time being quesadillas. Both chicken and plain cheese quesadillas were offered, along with a small cup of salsa and sour cream. For drinks, a variety of sodas were available and up for grabs for anyone who may want them.
The doors opened at 7pm, with the rounds beginning at 7:30, to allow time for food and socialization before the rounds begin. The ballroom filled in with hundreds of ecstatic students ready to play (and win!).

The rounds begun as standard, five in a row bingo, any direction. Then, bingo patterns escalated to check-mark, postage stamp, X, and even two blackout rounds for the more premium prizes. One round even featured a “worst card” challenge, where players would remain standing until a number on their card was called. Although competition was largely friendly, there was some conflict over the nicer prizes such as the TV. Boos were commonplace when someone finally won a round. Cries of “FALSE BINGO!” echoed frequently through the ballroom. In truth, there were three or so false bingos, but far more were sincere.
All in all, September Bingo served as a fair kickoff to the 2026-2027 bingo season here at SCSU and there is no doubt that the next rounds will bring even bigger crowds!
