ST. CLOUD, Minn. – St. Cloud State University has officially opened applications for its wide range of scholarships for the upcoming academic year. These scholarships provide students with financial support to help them afford higher education.
The university is encouraging both incoming and returning students to apply for scholarships. Scholarships are awarded based on academic achievement, financial need, leadership, and other criteria. The application window is open and will remain open until the deadline, Mar. 16.
“Scholarships have helped me because I am a single mother and an adult learner. Any spare dollar that I can get to help with schooling to further my education is beneficial,” said St. Cloud State University sophomore Lindsey Kiffmeyer. “I would tell students applying for scholarships to put thought into their essays, especially if it’s for your major because the people looking at those scholarships are the ones teaching you.”
St. Cloud State University offers various scholarships funded by donors, alumni, and university resources. Some scholarships are specifically designated for certain majors, first-generation college students, or those who demonstrate exceptional leadership or community involvement.
“Applying for scholarships helped my writing and critical thinking skills. I had to put a lot of thought into what I was writing since they asked excellent questions while I was filling out the application,” said Lillie Poetz, a member of St. Cloud State University’s pre-med club. “I plan on going to medical school, which is a lot of time and money, so it’s really nice to get my undergraduate paid off as much as I can.”
Students can apply through the university’s online scholarship portal, which streamlines the process by matching applicants with scholarships for which they qualify. Applicants are encouraged to review eligibility requirements carefully and submit all necessary documents before the deadline.
For more information on available scholarships and application deadlines, students can visit the St. Cloud State University financial aid website or contact the office directly.
